23/10/13 19:29After his feed of their session blacked out, Sollux had lost contact with the Membrane siblings and had resigned himself to metaphorically twiddling his thumbs between informing Bro as to the imminent arrivals, provided that Gaz's previous living situation allowed her to come back into the same neighborhood. And even if she did get settled back down here, there was no guarantee that Dib would too. He spent a lot of time mindfucking that one into oblivion. Not being able to actually discuss this with Dib in the first place was also messing with him.
In the intervening months, the two of them had spent a long time talking between the tedious busywork that Dib was forced to do. He had been lucky enough to have the guidance of the elder Strider early on, as well as his sister and Sollux helping to streamline the session as much as possible but when it came right down to it, it was time-consuming and mostly irritating, even at the best of times.
The last that Sollux had heard or seen of either of them, they had finished the breeding of their frogs and were heading on toward their confrontation with their session's Jack Noir. After that, there was complete radio silence, and that foreboding feeling was creeping up on him with every passing day. He tried to explain it away as his knowing about the predictable failure of their session, but again, he was unable to help twisting it into a hundred possible scenarios, each one worst than the last and usually ending up with Dib dead permanently or else fucked up beyond help in this reality. The idea that his memory wouldn't recover at all dug into Sollux, no matter how much he tried not to let it.
